Music at Shadwell

Curriculum Music and Choir

We are very lucky across the federation as we have a curriculum music teacher from Leeds City Council Artforms visit the schools once a week to deliver curriculum singing as well as a exploring a range of musical styles and instruments. The children all benefit from small group and whole school sessions to develop their musical appreciation and talents.

We have also bought into a scheme which everyone across the federation is excited to use. Charanga supports teachers with the planning and delivering of a fun and inspiring music curriculum for children across all year groups.

We run a KS2 choir at Shadwell allowing the children who love to sing to develop their skills of singing as part of a group. We provide the children with lots of opportunities to perform both within school as well as in the wider community. If your child is interested in getting involved with the choir, or you have any opportunities for the choir to get involved with, please let the school know.

Extra-Curricular Lessons

We offer a range of exciting opportunities for children in KS2 to learn an instrument or further their talents. The wonderful Paul offers children the opportunity to learn guitar with his ‘Get into Guitar’ programme and we also have opportunities offered by the ‘Music for School Foundation’ for children to learn a brass or woodwind instrument. If your child is in KS2 and you would like to know more, please ask!
