Chinese New Year in Class 6

Image of Chinese New Year in Class 6

We had a great day celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year in class 6. We started off by looking at some of the traditions and worked out which animal was related to our birth year. We then solved some maths problems with a Chinese New Year theme.

In English we listened to the story of Nian the monster and discovered why red is such an important colour in Chinese tradition. The children then wrote some fantastic descriptions of the monster, using all of the writing skills and vocabulary they have learnt this year.

Whilst we were writing, we sampled some traditional Chinese New Year snacks and Miss Dunsmuir even gave lessons on how to use chopsticks correctly!
