A busy start to year 6!
The children have settled in to year 6 magnificently and we have already done a lot of learning in the past couple of weeks, such as:
- Introducing our World War 2 topic - it has been lovely to see and hear about the children's family stories
- Maths - we have covered place value and solving expressions using BODMAS
- English - we have done some reading comprehension based on Anne Frank's diary which the children were fascinated by. We have been learning different sentence structures using prepositions and imperative verbs and have just started drafting newspaper articles about the Dambusters.
- In PSHE we have been talking about 'Briitish Values' and are currently looking at how we can keep safe when out and about.
- In RE, the children have been discussing 'God' and 'Heaven' and what they look like and mean to different people.
- In SITE, our science topic has been electricity and we have had a go at making our own circuits.
- We voted for our new school councillors
- We dug up the carrots the children planted in the allotment last year
- We met our new buddies in Reception
