World War Two Day

Image of World War Two Day

Class 6 have had a brilliant time learning about WW2 today, fully immersing themselves into their role of being evacuees. After a long train journey to the countryside, the evacuated children were greeted by some strict billeting officers for inspection.

We heard many air raid sirens today. It didn't matter where we were or what we were doing, we knew the importance of crouching down and taking cover (even in the dining hall).

Rationing was an extremely important part of the War and the children were given a rare treat this morning - Carrot Fudge (a special WW2 sweet treat).

It was hard work today at the farm. The children tidied the allotment and gathered vegetables and fruits ready for their host families. They were even rewarded with an apple for their hard efforts.
