PSHE Democracy and Voting!

Today, class four debated and then voted on whether it was right for children to have sweets in school.

The children were divided into either a group which was for having sweets or a group which was against having sweets.

Both sides had a key speaker (MP) who put their group's points of view forward to the class.

Then the children voted on this matter in our class polling station.

21 children voted against having sweets in school and 8 voted for having sweets in school!

The children then agreed, based on this majority result, that they would not eat sweets in school.

We discussed that by voting they had an opportunity to have a say in what they believe in.
