World Book Day
We have had a wonderful time in Class 5 celebrating World Book Day.
We read ‘The Word Collector’ by Peter Reynolds and decided to become word collectors ourselves. Class 5 shared adjectives and nouns they had written about their characters and played popcorn and SPLAT to learn some new words too.
We learnt all about Greek etymology in our topic lesson and learnt about all the words that have Greek origins.The children were surprised at just how many of the Greek prefixes and suffixes we still use today! We spent all afternoon using our Greek knowledge to decipher the meanings of new words (such as bibliophile, monopoly and dynasty).
We finished the day by using our new iPads to play Kahoot! (Class 5's new favourite game!!)
