Blast Off to the Moon

This week we introduced our new topic to the children - Neil Armstrong and the moon landing.  We began by blasting off to space ourselves - we watched Apollo 11 take off before getting into our take off positions and counting down to our own launch.  The class one astronauts then practised walking on the moon in their astronaut suits before trying some real astronaut food.  Although it did not look very appetising, everyone agreed that the neapolitan ice-cream sandwich was delicious!

Over the coming weeks we will be learning more about the life of Neil Armstrong and how he came to be an astronaut, the voyage of Apollo 11 and the actual moon landing.
