Greek visitor & DT day!

Image of Greek visitor & DT day!

What a fantastic week we have had in Class 5!

We kickstarted the week with a Greek Visitor who showed us lots of interesting artifacts from Ancient Greek including: weapons, medical supplies and even some ancient games. We studied the artifacts, sketched them and tried to predict what they were used for before John gave up and told us!! We learnt about democracy in Ancient Greece and how men and women lived differently depending upon which city they were born in. We learn so much and can't wait to put it to use in our topic work next week!

After our exciting morning with the Greek visitor, we had a writing workshop with some students from Leeds Beckett University. After hearing a snippet from Daniel Ingram-Brown's new book in the FireBird triology (read by Daniel himself!), we went back to classroom for a creative writing workshop. We used our imagination to create a character of our own who had their own mysterious past. We have used this character to write some fantastic pieces of creative writing this week!

On Wednesday, it was World Book Day which was so fantastic that it deserves a post of it's own!! See our next blog post!

Finally, on Friday we had our DT day! We spent all day learning about Ancient Greek sandals, designing and creating our own! We used a variety of techniques with lots of the class opting for plaiting which looked very authentic! We love our sandals and have all been able to take a few steps in them!

Well done Class 5 for a fantastic week of learning through creative means!
