Winter Explorer Day
Class R had a wonderful day exploring our outdoor environment during Winter Explorer Day. We were very lucky with the weather, enjoying blue skies and a lovely calm day. We looked closely at the changes that had occurred since our Autumn Explorer Day, sketching the big oak tree and revisiting the allotment, the woodland area and the nature garden to see what was different. The children were particularly excited by the large frogs Mrs Kennett had found for the occasion. We also built dens and sat in our shelters to enjoy a little winter treat.
In the afternoon we learnt about Andy Goldsworthy and had a go at making our own natural patterns and sculptures using a variety of materials. We also made bird feeders and winter tree pictures.
It was a great day that left everyone with rosy cheeks and a greater understanding of the seasons. We are now looking forward to our Spring Explorer Day in the not too distant future.
