Impossible Maths Challenge

This half term we have been focussing on multiplication and division in maths.

Yesterday we attempted to crack a really difficult challenge and the children in class 5 came up with some fantastic reasoning to find the answer!

Well done to Lucy who said "I tried out all of the consecutive numbers for the top row and only 4,5 and 6 would work. I used trial and error to figure out where they could go and after that I just had to work it out the calculation!"

Emily was also quick to realise that "you have to have 4,5 and 6 on the top row because 1,2 and 3 or 7, 8 and 9 doesn't work." Well done Emily!

Zoe was our fastest code cracker who similarly to the others realised that 4,5 and 6 were the only consecutive numbers to work on the top row before realising that the only number that could be the sum of two of them would have to be 9.

A huge well done to the children who didn't quite crack it during lesson but chose to take it home and managed to complete it in their own time!
