English in Class Two

Our class text this half term is Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs. We have used the stories as a basis to learn all about nouns and adjectives.

We have enjoyed finding synonyms for adjectives such as 'big' and 'nice' to help us to write exciting descriptions of dinosaurs.

We have enjoyed reading lots of Harry's adventures, especially 'Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs go wild!', where Harry works hard to raise money to save endangered animals. This story inspired us to write character descriptions about Harry.

We continue to work hard during our daily spelling sessions, where we are learning Year 2 Common Exception Words and Homophones. You can use Spellodrome to practise your spelling words...gaining 1000 points or more means that you earn a certificate!

Each week, two children will be chosen as 'Spellodrome VIP' for their efforts with their spelling. They get to wear a special Spellodrome wrist band and shiny badge for the week!
