Class 4's visit to the Gurdwara Temple

On Wednesday 18th October, Class 4 went on a trip to the Gurdwara Temple on Chapeltown Road. The trip was organised as in R.E we have been learning about religious festivals and Diwali.

When we arrived, we had to take our shoes off, wash our hands and cover our hair. Balraj, our guide, showed us how to put a turban on (his turban was 7m long!).  We had a tour of the Gurdwara and looked at the traditional paintings and symbols. We went into the prayer room and heard the prayers being sung. After that, we went downstairs into the Langar (kitchen) and learnt some more about Sikhism - we also got served about a chocolate treat!

Once our tour was over, we got the coach back to school just in time for lunch. The children had many good questions and behaved impeccably! Thank you to Miss McHugh, Mrs Crossland and Mrs Mackie for coming along with us, we all had a great time!
