Y5/6 Boys’ Football 1st team at home vs Scholes (28/2/19) – Won 2-1

28 February 2019

The boys got their half term underway with a home league match against Scholes this week. Having not played together for a while it took the first half for the boys to get together and play like they had done previously, conceding a goal early on. The game opened up more in the second half and the team created chances for themselves, showing resilience and composure to play their way back into the match, eventually winning 2-1.

Y5/6 Boys’ Football 2nd team at home vs Thorner (8/2/19) – Drew 2-2

8 February 2019

The boys’ football 2nd team had another game tonight as they entertained Thorner. In what was a thoroughly entertaining game with multiple chances for both teams, a draw was probably a fair result – Shadwell even managed to get a late equaliser towards the end of the game, which was reward for all their hard work! Also credit to Alina in goal, and Emily, who filled in from the girls’ 1st team and played exceptionally well!

7 February 2019

The girls’ football 1st team hosted Deighton Gates tonight as they looked to continue their good league form. Despite going 1-0 down, the team stuck together and fought back to claim a great win, with some excellent attacking play in the second half!

Y4/5/6 Cross Country City Finals at Temple Newsam (6/2/19)

6 February 2019

After competing at the Cross Country Regional Competition in the Autumn, those children and teams who qualified also competed in the City Finals this week against the best runners from all across Leeds. Shadwell had the Girls’ team and Oliver from Y4; the Y5 Girls’ team; and both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams from Y6 competing – the most we had ever taken! Although we didn’t get anyone qualifying for the County Finals, everyone ran to their best and we had some excellent finishes!

Y5/6 Netball match away at Highfield (5/2/19) – Won 5-2

5 February 2019

As we prepared for the league season we travelled to Highfield for a friendly match. The team consisted wholly of players who hadn’t played a Netball match before, in order to give them as much experience as possible. The team showed lots of grit and determination as well as great passing and moving as the match went on and they grew into the game. We defended well and took our chances with shooting opportunities to get a great 5-2 win!

Y5/6 Girls Football 2nd team at home vs Holy Family (4/2/19) – Lost 1-0

4 February 2019

The girls’ 2nd team played against Holy Family this week and were unlucky to lose; having conceded towards the start of the game they matched their opponents for the rest of it; having some chances of their own, but were just unable to convert them. Still there were lots of positives to take from the game as we look forward to playing more matches in the next few weeks.

Y5/6 Boys Football 1st team at home vs Carr Manor CPS (30/1/19) – Won 5-2

30 January 2019

In the latest round of the cup the boys’ 1st team played Carr Manor. In an open game, with both chances and goals for both teams, it was ultimately Shadwell’s finishing which was the difference between the two teams as they were very clinical in the final third. A win in the cup is always a bonus, and the victory sees the team qualify for the next round!

Y5/6 Boys Football 2nd team at home vs Harewood (28/1/19) – Drew 1-1

28 January 2019

The boys 2nd team drew against Harewood tonight. In what was a good game played in tremendous spirits a draw reflected both teams’ attacking chances, but also their solid defending and team shape.

24 January 2019

In a busy few weeks for the boys’ 2nd team they hosted Bardsey in a game filled with excellent moments and great goals. Despite being 4-1 down at one point, the boys showed lots of character to bring it back towards the end.

Y5/6 Girls Football 1st team West Yorkshire County Finals (14/1/19) – Winners!

14 January 2019

The girls team travelled to West Riding County FA today as the sole representative of Leeds for the Girls’ Football West Yorkshire Finals. Throughout the day they played the best team from both Huddersfield and Bradford, and were able to win both by scores of 8-0 and 2-0 thanks to some great defending and clinical finishing! Winning the County Finals now means the team will go onto compete at the North of England Finals in March, representing the entire County! A truly amazing achievement for a great team! Well done girls!

Y5 Football match at home vs West End (14/1/19) – Lost 4-2

14 January 2019

The Y5 football team played a match today as they hosted West End in the league. With the squad number well into its 20s there were lots of substitutions throughout the match, but the team tried to not let it disrupt their flow in the game, with each player putting in just as much effort as the previous. Even though we lost the game, good fun was had by all, and it gives everyone that bit more experience of playing for school when they play in the future.

Y5/6 Girls Football 1st team at home vs Highfield (11/1/19) – Drew 0-0

11 January 2019

As the team prepared for the County Finals they hosted Highfield in the league. A tough match, with few chances for either side, finished in a 0-0 draw. We showed good team shape and commitment in the tackles, all of which we will need next week when we go onto play the best team from Bradford and Huddersfield.
