May 2024

Dear parents and carers,

We hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend and the glimpses of warmer weather. I am happy to share the following updates with you.

Community Update

We hope you have been able to spot the winning entries from the poster competition we ran jointly with Shadwell in Bloom around the village. We are now planning our next joint activity together. A key element of our new vision is all about community. This is one of key partnerships we are pleased to have within our village community.

I was delighted to be asked to speak about the school at the AGM of the Parish Council over the Easter break. The warm welcome of the Parish Council, and the offers of potential support for the school from the other organisations present, were wonderful to experience. We will, over time, look forward to developing these partnerships.

Progress Café

The next Progress Cafes will be on June 18th for Years 6,5, and 4 and June 19th for Years 3,2 and 1.  The staff and children look forward to welcoming you into school to share the learning that our team work hard to inspire children to take part in. You can now book your session through Parentmail as usual.

SATS Week

SATS week is the week commencing 13th May. We are incredibly proud of all our year 6 children for the mature manner they have shown during their preparations for the week. We know they will try their best as always. To support the children, there will be a few minor timetable changes, e.g. break times will start a little later, so that playground noise does not disturb them during the tests. All the tests take place in the morning session so there will be no changes to the afternoon timetables. The whole staff team is sending them our very best wishes for the week.

Wraparound Care

As you are aware, we are now looking at ways to provide additional wrap around capacity beyond that currently available via Shadwell Childcare (SCC).  We are now at the stage of working with SCC to look at how, together, we can increase the number of places available to the community. We will keep you updated as we progress.
