Y5/6 Girls Football at home vs Immaculate Heart Primary School – Drew 1-1

25 May 2017

The girls’ football team had their final preparation game against Immaculate Heart on Thursday as they looked towards the City Finals on the Friday.

We started brightly and were able to make our pressure count when Emily’s persistent work up front saw her finish a great shot. A couple of fantastic saves from Gracie stopped some Immaculate Heart attacks; the score at halftime remained 1-0.

The second half saw more Shadwell pressure, but unfortunately no more goals. We were making lots of substitutions to give all the players some good amounts of game time to prepare for Friday, though you couldn’t tell as all players fitted seamlessly into different positions. Towards the end of the match, however, an Immaculate Heart player broke through and her low shot sneaked in at the far post. The girls were a bit disappointed at conceding a late equaliser but they could take great confidence in knowing that they had just played probably their best football of the year!
