Y5/6 Boys Football vs Our Lady’s Primary School – Won 4-0

30 March 2017

The boys team looked to continue their good cup run as they hosted Our Lady’s Primary School in the quarter finals. We got off to a solid start as we used the wind in the first half to exert some early pressure; the first goal remained key, however, and although we were having chances, we were unable to put the ball in the net.

It required good fortune/good skill from Sam to score directly from a corner (for the second time this season) to give Shadwell the lead. The team were soon able to double the score when good work from Joe on the left found Alfie to stab home from close range. The boys definitely took advantage of being on top when Joe added another; Oli worked his way into the box and his bal found its way through to Joe who had the simple job of tapping home.

The score at halftime was 3-0 to Shadwell and although the boys were happy with how they had played, they were also weary of a potential comeback, now that Our Lady’s had the wind in their favour. Despite this, the boys held firm with some great defending from Jacob and Matthew and some excellent battling in the midfield from Archie, Jack and Adian. We were even able to add another when Oli slotted home to make it 4-0. Winning the quarter final was a great achievement and the boys seem very focused on not only finishing strong in the league, but also the upcoming semi-final against Rothwell St Mary’s Primary School.
