Boys football home against Highfield – Won 7-0

7 March 2017

With the second half of the season well underway, the boys team hosted Highfield in the league. After a tough 1-1 draw in the away game, the team were hoping to get the better of their opponents this time around. The game started brightly for Shadwell but they needed a good save from Alex to deny Highfield scoring a one-on-one chance. Despite Highfield’s attempts, it was Shadwell who made the breakthrough when Jack finished a close range shot for his third in two games! Sam coolly slotted home a penalty kick just before the break to make it 2-0.

From the restart Alex was required to make a great save on the goal line from a Highfield corner, which could have been a turning point in the game. The second half allowed Shadwell to use their width, making the most of their wingers to work the ball into the box. Despite some excellent saves from the Highfield goalkeeper, Shadwell were quicker to react to the rebounds which resulted in adding further goals from Ollie (3), Joe (2).

The final score was 7-0 to Shadwell; Highfield can count themselves unlucky as they didn’t deserve to concede as many as they did, defending well and making some great saves.
