Boys football away against Alwoodley – Won 4-0

28 February 2017

The boys football team travelled to Alwoodley this week in their return league fixture. The team wanted to return to winning ways after their draw at Highfield and got off to a good start when Jack headed in Alfie’s long throw into the top corner to make it 1-0 to Shadwell. The rest of the half was mainly played through the middle, with both teams gaining ground and defending well, but clear cut chances were few and far between.

At the halftime break the team discussed stepping up the intensity and putting on more pressure; this was clear from the restart as Joe and Ollie both had early shots go wide. It took until 10 minutes to go before another goal was scored; a cross from Alfie on the right saw a great save drawn from the keeper by Ollie, only for Alex to pounce on the rebound for his second goal in two games.

The second goal seemed to seal the result and Shadwell were able to add two more as the end drew near; the third a great strike from Jack into the top right for his second. Jack then turned from scorer to provider for the fourth when his cross from the left was met by a diving header from Ollie to score a great goal!

The boys did well to push the result over the line and are looking forward to building on this in the next game.
