Y6 Tag Rugby vs Thorner Won 13-12

21 February 2017

After their exciting residential to Carlton Lodge, it was the Y6 Tag Rugby players’ turn to participate in their first match of the season as they travelled to Thorner for a friendly encounter.

Shadwell got off to a great start when Jacob, newly appointed as captain for this year, scored a try right from the first whistle; receiving a pass from Harlie and running through the entire Thorner team to score.

Thorner replied quickly though with some tries of their own and the game was extremely competitive and on the small pitch there wasn’t much space for players to avoid getting tagged. The score at halftime was 5-5, with plenty more action anticipated.

The talk at half time was positive, with players contributing not only on the good aspects of their play, but also what we could work on for the rest of the game.

Lots of tries were scored in the second half, but some great tagging, along with players helping out their team mates defensively restricted the chances for the opposition. Thorner played really well and have a team with fantastic potential; Shadwell did really well to see the game out with a narrow 13-12 win.

Try scorers were;

Jacob (2)

Connie (2)

Spencer (2)
