Welcome to Year 5
Welcome to Year 5!
Since starting Year 5, the children have settled excellently and I am sure their great behaviour will continue, which has only made me more excited to work with them this year. We have started by setting out expectations of UKS2 including recapping our learning for life skills alongside SMSC. Academically, this year is going to be full of fun and exciting topics but could also get a little tricky at times. Luckily, Class 5 have assured me that they are more than ready for the challenges ahead by showing me just how mature and positive they can be!
We have started our SITE topic of Space by learning some characteristics of the planets and applying these to our art work using some collage skills. We have lots of interesting questions about space which we will explore this half term including:
'How many solar systems are there?'
'Are aliens real?'
'Why are days different lengths on different planets?'
'What happened in the big bang?'
Along with learning about space this half term, we will also be learning about the world and where we fit in it in geography, important places in RE and learning about our physical health in PSHE.
We're very much looking forward to working with the children alongside their families this year, getting to know them better and seeing all that they can achieve.
